at UVM 11Oct2026

We originally planned to play UVM at home on the day after sorority Bid Day - when new members are officially accepted, but we thought so many home games would make next fall’s game-planning very difficult since we usually alternate home and away locations with the other teams.

This is a busy time of the term, so we only had four subs. We had cloudy skies, 15C/60F, 25kph/15mph winds - on their big turf field where the ball almost seems to run without friction. We discussed using shorter passes on the ground to help maintain possession.

UVM looked intense, as usual, and got a free kick from midfield early on, before Nicole got a shot off that went over their crossbar and Sophie had a shot go wide. Then Neva had a shot saved and earned and took a corner kick. Meg took a free kick from midfield from a UVM handball before their shot from the left side of the field rocketed into the upper-right of our net.

Neva earned a free kick in midfield before UVM had a shot go high. Nicole earned a corner that was followed by a shot from either Sophie or Ellie that was saved. Then Nicole took a corner kick late in the first half.

We remarked during the break that we were finding each other well and were dropping the ball back to keep possession. We came out strong and connected many of our passes and created good chances. Suggestions included more communication, keep supporting each other, make passes on the ground, use give and go movement.

In the 47th minute, UVM had a shot go wide and a free kick from midfield go wide before Nicole earned a corner and Neva had a shot saved. UVM got two free kicks, and the latter found the back of our net.

Nele saved a UVM shot for a corner and then made two more saves for another corner; one of our players made a clearance for another UVM corner, and Nicole cleared a UVM shot in the 65th minute.

Neva had a shot go wide before Chloe’s perfectly placed free kick in their third. Nele made two more saves before another of their shots went wide. Then Molly took a free kick after a UVM handball in midfield, and Neva had a shot saved near the final whistle.

We played hard and never gave up. It’s always good to play good teams, and UVM is usually a very clean-playing team. We made many, many good passes had good chances and so can feel rewarded for putting in great effort!

Middlebury 10Oct20

At 9am we thought perhaps Middlebury would not have enough players to come down, but about a half hour later we got confirmation that they were coming! Whew! It was senior day!

Maddie’s mom and boyfriend, Chloe’s parents and pups, Nicole’s dad and pups, Carson’s mom and brother (I think), a huge group from Sigma Delta and many others were there cheering! We spoke about playing from our hearts and making good passes.

Middlebury pressed heavily and earned an early free kick in their third before Nele saved their first and only shot for the half. I think we all were surprised by how well they played.

Neva had a shot go high and Carson had one go wide before Lola earned a free kick from our third. Then Ellie had a shot go wide and we took a free kick from our third due to their handball.

Neva had another shot go high before Molly’s free kick from our third and Ellie (maybe?) had a shot saved. Then Neva had a shot saved and Nicole had one go wide before Ellie’s shot hit the crossbar then over.

Liv earned free kick from midfield and Maddie had a shot saved before Liv’s shot wide just before the break. We had ten times as many shots as they had in the first half!

Carly led the comments with impassioned praise for the love all of our players showed each other during the first half - taking great care of each other. We connected more passes and held good spells of possession. It was suggested that we can pass back and not always go forward in order to maintain possession, and we switch sides more often. Our crosses were very effective, we should keep shooting and play for each other!

Early in the second half, Pine took a free kick from our third and Molly had a shot saved before Middlebury sent a shot wide and Nele saved a shot.

Emeline earned a free kick from our third before Pine had a shot saved. Then
Carson earned a free kick from midfield taken by Lola and Nele made another save
when Middlebury took a free kick from midfield.

Middlebury got in behind our defense (offside?) for their goal in the 56th minute.

Hattie earned a free kick from their third and Pine’s shot went wide before Neva scored from Carson’s rebound off their crossbar in the 65th minute.

Nele saved Middlebury’s 6th shot before another went wide. Then Sage made a beautiful strike in the 71st minute for our game-winning goal.

Nicole had a shot go wide and Ellie had one go over their crossbar before Middlebury sent two shots wide and Carly took a free kick from midfield.

We were delighted to play a strong team in preparation for the game with UVM.

UNH 4Oct2026

We didn’t know what to expect with UNH since they are relatively new to our League. When we arrived at Sachem Field, they were already warming up. Their coaches said 80 players came to their first tryouts!

We had fans! Nicole’s mom and pups, Maddie’s mom, Neva’s dad -maybe others?

We spoke about making close/simple passes on the ground to maintain possession and trying a diagonal dribble to confuse a defender.

Nicole wasted no time in getting off a shot in the first minute that went over their crossbar before Kya blocked a UNH shot for their corner. Sage had a shot go high and Molly had a shot saved before Nicole had her shot saved for a corner taken by Molly - then another corner by Molly.

In the 10th minute, Liv earned a free kick in their third taken by Neva, whose shot went high. Three minutes later, Neva earned a PK that was taken by Nicole; her first shot hit the crossbar but she scored on the rebound.

Sage had a shot saved for Ellie’s corner; then Ellie earned a free kick from midfield. Chloe earned a free kick from midfield taken by Emeline before UNH took a free kick in our third and had two corner kicks.

UNH sent a slow-rolling shot from left into the lower-right corner of our net in the 32nd minute. Emeline took a free kick from our third before Molly had a shot saved and UNH took a free kick from midfield just before the break.

We had many thoughts about the first half: playing scared by their physicality (?), we’re still happy, could communicate more, they’re putting high pressure on us so passing back is good for keeping possession, calm down, wing players came back to help provide outlets, make closer/simpler passes. Believe!

Within seconds Nicole scored by herself before UNH sent a shot wide. Carson took a corner kick and earned a free kick in their third taken by Neva before UNH’s free kick from midfield followed by their corner.

UNH took another free kick in their third and one from midfield before Nicole earned a free kick in their third taken by Neva. UNH took a corner kick and had a shot go wide before Liv earned a free kick in their third taken by Sage.

UNH took another corner kick and had a shot saved by Nele before Maddie had a shot saved and Neva had a shot go wide. Then Lola took a free kick from midfield and Kya earned free kick in midfield.

In the 79th minute, Nicole set up Neva for our third goal before Sage earned a free kick in midfield. In the last few minutes, Nicole earned a corner kick taken by Lola  and Chloe had a shot go high.

In the 2nd half we connected more and more passes, so the end result seemed extremely we’ll deserved, and we were happy not to succumb to the physical and sometimes verbal pressure we faced!

Springfield 3Oct202into

Springfield hosted us last fall, so it was their turn to come north. A perfect day with blue skies and summer-like temperatures, we were delighted to welcome back Avery Jones and Nicole’s mom and pups for Homecoming! The bonfire returned last night after last year’s draught made it impossible.

We spoke about keeping the ball moving, making good passes that maintain possession and making diagonal dribbles or passes.

Both teams were highly energetic, but we were more often first to ball and better able to connect passes. After Molly earned a free kick in their third in the 3rd minute, Nicole had her shot saved but was able to put the rebound into their net.

Nicole had a shot saved for a corner that was taken by Molly before Liv earned and took a corner and Neva earned a free kick in midfield. Carson’s shot bounced off the top netting in the 19th minute before Hattie had a shot saved.

Springfield took a free kick from midfield and had a shot go wide before Ellie’s shot did the same and Carson had a shot saved. Then Springfield had another free kick from midfield and a shot wide, then a free kick in our third and a shot wide before halftime.

During the break, we complimented our stepping to the ball and our good shooting and suggested more passes, being quicker, cutting back, connect more to feet, keep the intensity, open up wide in the back and get the ball back if we lose it.

Ellie had a shot go wide in the first minute of the second half before Nicole earned a corner taken by Molly and Carson had a shot saved. Springfield took a free kick, but that shot went high; then another shot of theirs went wide.

Nicole earned a corner taken by Lola before Mia’s shot hit the upright. Neva earned a corner and Kya had a shot go high before Nicole blew by defenders on the right side of the field and took her shot at a very acute angle into then upper left corner of their net in the 67th minute.

After Carson earned a corner, a cross found Neva, whose shot went in but her goal was disallowed due to a foul in their box. Ellie took a corner before Carson took another corner; then Neva made a beautiful shot in the 72nd minute from 20+ meters for our third goal.

Springfield’s free kick in our third went wide before Carson’s shot went wide. Then Ellie earned a free kick in their third that was taken by Lola and Pine had a shot go wide. Springfield took s free kick in their third just before Carson set up Ellie’s goal in the 76th minute.

Springfield got lucky in the last minute of the game when they sent in a high-arcing shot from the left side of the field into the upper right corner of our net. Credit them for not giving up!
